Is Respect in Jeopardy?

Tardiness. On the rise. Time is life’s greatest commodity, and when people waste that of others, it’s not acceptable. Disrespectful.

Public transport. No regard for people that need that seat more. The mad rush to get on the vehicle. Barging, jostling and accosting. The race to ignorance. Disrespectful.

Proposal sent having thought long and hard about the best solution I can supply to the potential client’s problems. No acknowledgment. Zero response. A ‘no thanks’ would be fine. More and more, even that isn’t forthcoming. Disrespectful.

Christ, what was that under my foot? Shit. Dog shit. Filthy owner. The canine knows no better. Disrespectful.

Please. Thanks. May I? Going, going, gone? Disrespectful.

Lovers, partners and spouses. Has there ever been less regard for the significant other? The way that many relationships end now is, well, disrespectful.

Is respect now an anomaly? Self-centred, vacuous lives are strangling it. It’s painful to observe.
